I'm the kind of person who skips to the conversation when reading a book.

A Great Quote

IMG_2298[1]“Like butter thinly spread…”
Yes, this will turn my head —
A quote that I can picture in my mind.

“Suppose you were an idiot,
And elected –” (oh, how hideous!)
Redundant but a truth so well designed.

A quote will draw me in to read.
They make me laugh; they make me bleed.
Good quotes work well if they are well-designed.

“I always have a quotation…”
One to fit every occasion.
It helps me to preserve my pea-sized mind.

The real quotations with their authors:

“I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.” Bilbo Baggins in JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings

“Suppose you were idiot and suppose you were elected to Congress; but I repeat myself.” Mark Twain

“I always have a quotation for everything – it saves original thinking.” Dorothy Sayers

Thanks to the Daily Prompt: How do you pick what blogs or books to read? What’s the one thing that will get you to pick up a book or click on a link every single time?
