Conversations

I'm the kind of person who skips to the conversation when reading a book.

She

She is my daughter.

Heart of my heart.
Flesh of my flesh.

Beautiful, bright, bipolar.

Oh, how my heart aches for her!

She is sunshine
and she is a storm.

She is compassion
and she is criticism.

She is health and unhealth,
vigor and weakness,
energy and inertia.
all rolled into one.

She is bipolar.

It isn’t fair.

****

Inspiration for this post came from Lisa-jo Baker’s Five Minute Fridays.  Today’s word was She.

Your love and heartache are expressed so well. My best friend’s son is also bipolar and they have walked a very difficult road. It is a difficult thing to understand, and I pray you feel God’s peace today.

Thank you for your kind words and prayers. We’re in a rough patch right now.

Nope. It’s not fair. As a depression-sufferer and mother to an OCD-sufferer, I will vouch that mental illness does not play fair. May God bless you as you continue to love her through the struggles!

Thank you, Sharon. I don’t know how people do it without faith.

This is my granddaughter – sunshine and storm, energy and inertia – how well you say it! Also a migraine sufferer – that can lay her low for weeks on end. But such a lovely person, and it isn’t fair …

My teenage daughter suffers from a bit of depression so your descriptions hit home with me.
