“Am I  the only one in this house who knows how to change the roll of toilet paper?” I called out.

It fell upon deaf ears.

Nobody cared.

And apparently I am.  The only one who knows how.

Here is an instructive how-to.

For the sake of my family.  Because pictures are worth a bunch of words.

This is an empty toilet paper roll. It’s easy to identify by the absence of any usable toilet paper on the tube.

Gently pull one end of the rod towards the other. There’s a magic spring inside that allows the rod to compress.

Pull the rod itself off the assembly. This allows one to…

dispose of the empty tube.

Hold onto the rod. You’ll need that for the next step.

Leave the empty tube in the garbage. (I really don’t think it’s recyclable, Dad.)

Put a new roll of toilet paper on the tube.

 Insert one end of the rod back into the assembly on the wall.

Compress the magic spring again to get the other end of the rod in place.

Voila! Toilet ready for use by the next person.
And yes, I happen to like the toilet paper coming over the top, not from the bottom.

Adding a sense of magic — in the compressible rod — makes it seem fun, right?

Now there are no excuses from anyone!
