I'm the kind of person who skips to the conversation when reading a book.

Mary’s Magnificat

“What is a Magnificat anyway?” Deirdre asked.

The sermon topic for the Sunday before Christmas had been Mary’s Magnificat.  That’s what prompted the question in the kitchen after we got home.

“Yeah,” agreed Finley, “is it just some song Mary wrote on the spot after the angel spoke with her?”

“That’s pretty much it,” I told them.

I went on to explain, “A lot of times in the Bible when something big happens, someone writes a song.”  I was thinking about Miriam and her “horse and rider” song in Exodus 15.

“Oh, I get it,” said Deirdre. “The Bible is just one big sing-along.”

Yep.
